What is Trigger Point Therapy? 

triggerpointWhen an area is tight and the muscle tissue causes pain in other areas of the body, this is called a trigger point.  For example, you may have a trigger point in your shoulder that might  refer or send pain down the arm and into the fingers, the sensation may range from an intense sharp pain to a dull achy feeling. Trigger point massage is designed to relieve the source of the pain through a technique of isolated pressure and release.  Sometimes the therapist may request active or passive assistance and resistance from the client.  Deep breathing is also a regular practice of this therapy and assists greatly in the location and intensity of the discomfort. What is Swedish Massage Therapy?
